Recycle that plastic container Think Green!

Here's a little project you might enjoy. It's fun and good for the environment too.

Don't throw out those plastic ice cream containers, coffee cans, or other plastic food containers. Recycle them into unique keepsake boxes or gift tubs for party guest goodie bags.

Start with an empty ice container & make sure it's been thoroughly washed.

You'll need either a good adhesion promotor or make sure your spray paint is designed to adhere to plastic.

We started with a coat of clear adhession promotor. You can find the adhesion promotor in spray can in the auto paint department of your local auto parts store or try kilz in the spray can from your house paint supplier.

After applying the adhesion promotoer and allowing it to dry we applied a silver base color just to make it easier for our final base color to cover evenly.

If you've used a gray primer or white kilz to base coat your container it won't be necessary to apply any other base before moving onto your final color.

Once you have an even, gorgeous coat of paint on your container the fun begins.

You can decorate it with nearly anything you'd like. Buttons, bows, decals, glitter, paint pens, etc. We chose decals that we designed with a cheer theme in red, white, and blue.

Lots of bold stars, some fun lettering, cute cheerleaders and megaphones and we're done. Oh wait.... Let's spray some craft glitter all over that and watch it really sparkle!
Finished Project!
